When using “Tsunagaaru” for classroom activities

For teachers who use “Tsunagaaru” for class activities we provide accounts that may be used for the needed period of time. If you wish to establish an account, please contact us at the email address below.

* Teachers cannot register using the registration form for students. Please send your request via email.
* If you have any questions or need advice on how to use “Tsunagaaru” for your classes, please feel free to contact us. tsunagaaru@tjf.or.jp

About using the communities

“Tsunagaaru” consists of the “essay” pages and “community” pages. The essay pages provides a kind of diary space where members can write about their daily lives, thoughts and impressions, or about any other topics of their own choice.

The community pages are where students exchange views and information about topics they are interested in, such as school life, foreign language studies, what to do after graduation, hobbies, and social and world events (further details may be found here).

These pages can be useful for class projects or research study. If you are interested, please contact us about this by email, giving specific information on your class activities using “Tsunagaaru.”

Closed communities

Users can create what are called “closed communities.” The basic functions of the closed communities are same as regular communities, but while all members can visit regular communities, closed communities are open to only specified members.

Closed communities can be used for activities for which the participants are limited, such as exchanges between sister schools and activities within a particular class. In contrast to other group-specific communication methods, text garbling is not a problem in discussion via a closed community.

Teachers, too, can post messages in these communities (teachers are generally not permitted to make posts on pages other than closed communities).

Unlike regular communities, closed communities are created by the “Tsunagaaru” administrators at TJF. If you are interested, please contact us by email , giving specific information on your class activities using “Tsunagaaru.”tsunagaaru@tjf.or.jp

Procedure for registering students

The procedure students will follow to register on Tsunagaaru goes as follows:

  1. The student desiring to join will fill out the items on the Registration Form and press send.
  2. After submitting the Registration Form, the student will download the Agreement Form (PDF/Word), fill in the items specified, and have their parent or guardian sign it, and send it to TJF by post or fax. You may also collect your students’ Agreement Forms and send them all together to TJF.
  3. Once TJF has received the registration information, we will contact the school and the homeroom, Japanese-language, or other teacher the registrant has indicated on the form to confirm his or her attendance at the school.
  4. When a student's registration information and agreement form has been confirmed, TJF will send an email to the student. Once the student receives this email, he or she will be able to log in to Tsunagaaru. The registration procedures will be completed as soon as we receive the Agreement Form (No. 2 above) and confirm your school enrollment (No. 3 above).
